Do you know the history of the star tree topper?
It’s been a really long time since I’ve thought about the true meaning of Christmas. I admit, I don’t go to church any longer. Our Christmas season is filled with stress over holiday gatherings, a sneaky tattletale of an Elf who reminds me to lie to my kids and makes me feel like a failure of a parent. And lets not forget the overabundance of toys and begging family to PLEASE, for the love of God, have mercy on our home and supply the kids with non toy gifts!
Inundated with all that Christmas has become, I’ve lost sight of everything that Christmas really is. I’m sorry, but it’s true.
But, I hope the next time I put a star or angel tree topper on the tree I think about it as more than a beautiful decoration. The history of the star tree topper is a symbol of the Star of Bethlehem. This star guided the Wise Men to the Manger. I like to think there’s more to life than the stuff we’re collecting and the plethora of holiday gatherings that stress us out.

A silver dipped maple leaf that was my mothers. It always reminds me of he because she had large maple trees in her yard.
My favorite Christmas ornaments are the ones my children made while in school!
