Mommy Rule #4
Forget the housework and get some sleep

This is mostly true in the beginning.  Those first few months are hard … eh, that’s an understatement.

I’m not telling you to tell your husband that “Ivy said I don’t have to do housework because I have a baby” … I’m not backing you up on that what-so-ever.

What I am telling you is that in those first few months when you’re not well rested and the thought of doing housework makes you want to crawl into a hole and die and then you think “but if anyone sees this disaster of a house …”  you probably should take a nap if the baby is sleeping.  The disaster will be there in an hour when you’re feeling a smidge more rested.

I totally agree with this! I always tell my friends to get as much sleep as they can in the beginning! Also to make sure that they sleep while the baby is sleeping. Heck, I could use some sleep right now! lol

VERY important! Wish I actually took this advice after my kiddos were born.

Great advice! Most new moms don't realize they should have been napping with baby until they are completely sleep deprived and baby's nap time has gotten much shorter.

One of my friends just had a baby today. I am going to remind her to make sure she gets sleep. I didn't do that with my kids but I wished I did. I know even now if I need sleep the house will wait.

I can't even sleep normally now. I can't imagine how exhausted I'd be if I were a mom. Cat mom is the life I lead.
