Handling Children’s Fevers plus Children’s Advil Review and Coupon

by Ivy B

You know that moment when your children are getting sick?  You know it’s happening, and probably before they actually are sick.  With my kiddo, the tell-tale signs are usually extra whining and a little bit more cuddly than normal.  When an illness is full blown, my kiddo hardly functions on her own and needs to be held a lot.  I love the extra snuggles since she’s not really a cuddly girl, but I also know that I’ll be spending a lot of time sitting around wishing she felt better.  So, what are you to do when your children get sick and have fevers?

Monitor your child’s fever with a reliable thermometer.  Low-grade fevers may not require a fever reducer.  Did you know fever is the body’s natural method of getting rid of infection?

If your child’s fever becomes high grade, you can do the following to try to bring the fever down.  These tips will be especially helpful if your child’s doctor’s office isn’t open:

1) According to our pediatrician, you can give your child a cool bath.  Contrary to popular belief, do not place your child in a bathtub of cold water.  The body temperature water will help to bring down a fever without causing any kind of a shock to your child’s system.

2) Introduce a fever reducer.  I typically alternate between ibuprofen and acetaminophen and schedule them so that the final dose at night is the ibuprofen.  I have found that Children’s Advil is the most reliable and lasts longer, but I’ll expand on this in a few moments.

3) Allow your child to rest as much as possible.  Fighting infection is hard work.

4) Be sure to offer plenty of clear liquids, especially water to keep them from becoming dehydrated.

Please remember that I am not a doctor.  These are tips that I have found useful, but I am not qualified to offer medical advice or make a medical diagnosis.  If you are unsure about your child’s treatment or fever, please seek medical advice.  This post was created in partnership with Smiley360 and Children’s Advil.  I was provided a full-sized sample of Children’s Advil Sugar-Free in exchange for my honest opinions of the product.

Children’s Advil Review

As promised, here are my expanded thoughts on Children’s Advil.

I’ve always relied on Children’s Advil products to reduce my kid’s fevers.  To be honest, Advil & ibuprofen products have always been the most reliable and efficient when I’ve needed fever reduction or pain relief, even for myself.  As a mom, I love knowing what brand I can trust to take care of my own child.

When I was selected to review the NEW Children’s Advil Sugar Free, I was really excited.  Unfortunately, we made it through cold and flu season without needing the product, but just days after receiving the product, my daughter began fighting the sniffles.  She only had a slight fever, so we were able to make it through the day without medications, and saved Children’s Advil for the last thing she took before bed.  As expected, her fever never came up and she slept well every night she took her Advil.

The new Advil product is Sugar-Free and Dye-Free.  Because of the links between sugars and dyes and children’s behavioral issues, I’m excited to see this new product being offered.  I like the idea of being able to limit my child’s intake of sugars and dyes to treats.  I feel that feeding my kiddo sugar while she’s sick is counterproductive to warding off an illness, so I love that this is one less worry.  The best part of all is that she didn’t realize it didn’t have sugar and took her medicine without issue.

Even I tasted it, and it was quite sweet, which made me wonder, how is it sugar-free?  Sucrose is replaced with sucralose in this particular medication, so it’s a sweetener.  While I’m not exactly sure how I feel about the use of sucralose,  I’m going to stick to the mindset everything in moderation because I know I don’t often use artificial sweeteners with my child, so a few times when she needs medicine shouldn’t be harmful.

You know that moment when your child’s medication kicked in?  I love knowing that when I give my child her dose of Children’s Advil at night, we both will get a healthy, solid chunk of sleep.

Tell me: what are your go-to fever reducing methods?  Have you tried Children’s Advil?

Spread the love
