Looking for some fun things to do at home with kids?
Now that we’re all stuck at home, we may be going a little crazy. What about you?
Whether or not you’ve got school-aged children doing distance learning, for the time being, you may be looking for extracurricular activities for them.
Still, some of us are left wondering how to keep our younger ones busy.

Outdoor things to do at home with kids
Don’t forget that, although we’re supposed to be social distancing, fresh air, sunshine, and physical activity is really important for our bodies.
Make sure to offer plenty of outdoor activities for your children to do throughout the week.

Free play outside
Take a walk around the neighborhood
Ride bikes around the neighborhood
Have a scavenger hunt in the backyard
Picnic in the yard

Inside things to do at home with kids
Play board games
Build blanket or box forts
Read books – don’t have a large enough personal library? Check out these ideas:
- Your public library may offer ebooks through the Libby app.
- Audible is offering free books for kids while school is closed.
Do some crafts
Learn new skills like crafting, photography, paper airplane making and more (Bluprint is offering FREE classes until April 16th)
Educational things to do at home with kids
Online Preschool (We currently use MissHumblebee.com which has been provided as a free resource from our library. ABCmouse has also been used in this house).
Do educational worksheets and activities – we’re using School Zone Preschool kit that is no longer in print.

Learn a new language (We use Transparent.com which is provided as a free resource from our library).
Use education.com for free printables and lesson plans for Preschool through 5th grade. The free version limits how many printables you can print for the month though an upgrade often is only $5/month for an annual plan when they run sales (which happens often).

Take an online tour of the Louvre
Take a virtual tour of the Great Wall of China!
